FLAG RETIREMENT SERVICE

The flag code is deliberately vague when it come to retiring weathered or tattered American Flags. The code simply says: “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”


If you’re a true patriot, you know that there are protocols for how an American flag should be flown as well as when it shouldn’t be. When a flag is tattered or worn, or if it needs to be retired for any reason, we will help you with that as well. As a service to the community, we will receive your tattered and worn flags free of charge. And if you have a moment, you can assist us in folding the flag one last time in preparation for an honorable send-off.

ABOUT THE FLAG CENTER

Since 1980 the flag center has proudly served Redding and Northern California with flags, flagpoles, and accessories. Originally founded by Carol Fielding, a Navy wife and member of the Annin Flagmakers family. Carol cast a broad net in the Northern California impacting a huge swath of real estate stretching from Oroville north into Oregon and from the Pacific coast to the Nevada border.In 1995 Carol retired and sold the flag center to Richard Kinney, a retired Naval Officer who expanded the business further. Rich retired in 2010 and sold the business to his seamstress, Denice Jarvis who maintained The Flag Center until it was sold to the current owners, Rolan and Janie Dillion in April 2021. As a Navy veteran himself, Rolan is proud to carry on the Navy tradition at The Flag Center.


Rolan and Janie are both lifelong patriots, a son and daughter of the American Revolution, they both come from military families and consider it an high honor and privilege to be in a business where their primary product is the Ensign of the United States of America, one of the most recognized and revered symbols across the whole earth.
